Maypole Dancing
A Labyrinth one-shot...
Sarah stood anxiously awaiting the dance to begin. The grassy field was full of smiling people who stood in one of two circles. The outer circle was the larger one, full of spectators who joyously cheered and called out for those in the inner circle. The inner circle was comprised of the dancers. Each held a long twenty-foot strand of ribbon in their hands, prepared to start the dance at the call of the Master of Ceremonies. Sarah herself, stood in the inner circle, dressed in one of her mother's old costumes and a flower circlet in her dark hair let loose to blow in the slight breeze.

Chapter 13: Pride and Prejudice
A low rhythmic ticking made a soft white noise in the background as Sarah rolled over in a half-sleep. The soft mattress made a 'flumph' sound as her body plopped back down and the ropes holding the mattress made a soft creaking sound. She frowned; something wasn't right. Her dorm bed didn't make a flumph and creak sound… usually it made a thump and squeak sound. She furrowed her brow. It was obvious she wasn't in her own bed, but if she wasn't in her bed, whose was she in?

I've been playing around with this idea for a while. Most Labbies accept that the only songs that happened actually were the ones that Jareth or a cast sang, but I've always loved this song, too much to let it sit. So, I thought, maybe Jareth wrote and sang it when he first saw Sarah and fell in love with her. Now, this is him looking back later after she defeated the Labyrinth, and all the pain and angst! XD
P.S., yes, the title is Jareth's Underground, as in the Underground that is in Jareth's possession, not Jareth IS Underground.
